Spain in renowned for its love of the fiesta and every town and village hosts its own fiestas throughout the year, normally in honour of its patron saint. The province of Granada, in Andalucía, hosts a bountiful supply of local fiestas each month. Some of them have origins dating back hundreds of years, others are more recent. Many of them can only be described as bizarre. Suffice to say, whatever their theme, they are always thoroughly enjoyed by all participants.

Local fiestas are generally held around the same time each year, however the exact dates will vary slightly depending on when they fall so it always wise to check the dates in advance.

Agua y del Jamón

Lanjarón, home to the famous natural springs of the Alpujarras, in the province of Granada, adds an unusual twist to their annual fiesta with a Water and Ham Festival.
