Flying to Andalucía

Air travel has become much cheaper and easier in recent years, with several low cost companies flying into both Granada and Málaga Airports.

flying-to-andaluciaGranada Airport, located about 16 Kilometres west of the city near the small town of Santa Fé and at less than an hour’s drive from the coast, has seen a dramatic increase in passenger numbers since Ryanair commenced international flights from London Stansted, East Midlands and Liverpool.

Throughout 2006, Granada airport’s facilities were greatly improved, with the refurbishment and expansion of the duty free shop, along with bringing in new business from car hire companies and secure airport parking.

Málaga Airport, at approximately 1 hour and 30 mins drive from the Costa Tropical, is situated 8 kilometres west of the city, next to the main A7 coast road that links to the AP7 Autopista del Sol motorway. It is currently undergoing major expansion to cope with the increase in air traffic.

The airport at Almería is increasingly becoming another option; it is located about 10 kilometres east of the city centre at the end of the AL12 dual carriageway. Several companies now fly there from London and Ireland each week. This airport is situated to the east of the Costa Tropical, a drive of approximately 1 hour and 30 mins.
