Travelling by bus in Spain is a very popular and cost effective option, particularly for people who live in the smaller towns and villages of the Costa Tropical. Whilst not exactly frequent, most rural areas are served by a regular daily bus service to the nearest town.
The province of Granada and the Costa Tropical are well served by Alsa, who operate locally throughout the area, as well as providing long distance routes to other major cities, both within and outside Andalucía. Route information in English and prices can be found on their website; as an added bonus tickets can be booked online. For those without access to the Internet, telephone bookings can be made by calling 902 330 400.
Spain is well known for its excellent network of economically viable long-distance buses; many routes travel directly to and from airports, with others being timetabled to link in with airport to city centre shuttle buses. Federico-García Lorca airport in Granada has a regular shuttle bus into Granada city centre, from where buses can be taken to all areas of the province, including the coastal towns of Almuñécar, Salobreña and La Herradura, as well as to other provinces and regions.
