Markets

Looking for a bargain? Then pop along to a Spanish 'mercardo'; these colourful, boisterous, noisy markets are held every week in towns and villages throughout Spain, and The Costa Tropical in The Province of Granada is no exception. Each town or village has its own market day, with larger towns often hosting more than one in the same week.

The 'mercardo' is  an intrinsic part of Spanish life, providing local communities, both large and small, with a veritable cornucopia of products ranging from herbs and spices to leather shoes and bags, curtain fabrics to fresh fruit and vegetables. At the larger markets you can even pick up a spit roasted chicken and fresh bread for your lunch.

Visiting a 'mercardo' offers a fantastic opportunity to check out what the locals are buying, whilst at the same time, practising your language skills. They are a fun way of mingling with the Spanish and you will often come away with a bargain or two.

Markets can be found in the towns listed on the following days:-
