2 Much Fun
The Province of Granada, deep in the heart of Andalucía, offers wonderful opportunities to enjoy a diverse range of sports and leisure activities, from cycling to scuba diving, horse riding to skiing, and golf to paragliding.
Due to it lying along the magnificent coast of the Mediterranean Sea, The Costa Tropical de Granada is home to a wealth of sports clubs and businesses that open their doors to thousands of visitors each year wishing to experience the awesome myriad of water sports from snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing and kayaking to name but a few. The artificial reef off El Peñon rock in Salobreña has encouraged a multitude of sealife to the area, making it extremely popular with divers of all abilities.
Skiers of all levels can enjoy the 62 kilometres of ski runs, including a long distance trail, at Europe's most southern ski resort The Sol y Nieve Ski Resort in The Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. With ski schools, 20 ski lifts, advanced snow machines in the event of too little snow and 45 marked runs classified according to the degree of difficulty, this bustling resort is always a hive of activity, drawing customers from all over Europe.
For the ultimate thrill seekers the popular air sports of choice are parascending (also known as parapenting), where one is pulled into the air either by a speedboat or a land vehicle and remaining attached to it; paragliding, which is free flight with the launch being independent of external forces, along with the slightly different version known as paramotoring, whereby participants have the addition of a small engine and motor attached to them, almost making it a form of light aviation. Along the Costa Tropical there are companies who specialise in Air Sports; please see the business directory for more details.
For children, summer wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Aquatropic water park in Almuñécar; they have water slides, mini golf, beach volleyball, an aquarium, a quad track and a playground.
This is a small sample of the leisure activities to enjoy whilst in The Costa Tropical. In The Province of Granada there are a number of companies who specialise in activity holidays, be it walking in the mountains, horse riding or cycling. Details of these, along with information on the golf courses situated in Granada and Motril can be found in the Guide2Granada business directory.
